Microneedling or Skin-pen is an enhanced skin nourishment and renewal treatment, as it combines the action of microneedling with mesotherapy, simple or autologous (PRP). Microneedling

What is it?

Microneedling mesotherapy belongs to the top facial treatments for anti-aging, tightening, smoothing of small wrinkles and improvement of acne scars. What makes it different from traditional mesotherapy is the use of the microneedling device. This is a pen-shaped device that has many tiny needles on its head, smaller in diameter than the thickness of a single hair. These needles create controlled and invisible to the eye micro-injuries (channels) in the skin, which in turn stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. The personalised solution of vitamins, peptides, minerals and hyaluronic acid that the doctor will apply to the face during the treatment penetrates through these tiny nodules into the deeper layers of the skin and deeply hydrates and nourishes the skin.

Step by step

1st Step

The doctor examines your skin to evaluate the appropriate repetitions of the treatment and the composition of the cocktail of ingredients that suits your needs.

2nd Step

The treatment begins with a thorough cleansing of the skin. Then, the doctor applies the special mirconeedling device and moves it by painlessly creating tiny “canals” on the surface of the epidermis to allow the mesotherapy solution to penetrate to the required depth. Along with the movement of the device, the doctor administers the solution with a syringe (without a needle) exactly where the device ” operates “. After the application of microneedling mesotehrapy is complete, the remaining solution is applied to your skin so that it can be absorbed.

3rd Step

The treatment is completed with the application of moisturizer and sunscreen for complete protection from the sun.

After the treatment you should be careful with the hygiene of the application area. Ask the dermatologist when you can wash your face and use a clean towel to wipe yourself. It is also a good idea to change your pillowcase and bed sheet. Finally, avoid touching your face to prevent any infection.

Similarly, if you apply makeup products make sure that the brushes are clean.

The Microneedling mesotherapy is essentially painless as the needles of the head are tiny and the “scanning” of the area is very fast. You may however feel a mild discomfort and if you prefer you can request an anaesthetic cream to be applied prior to treatment.

Now, with the rapid development of aesthetic medicine, the microneedling device can be used safely around the lips and eyes, as long as it is applied by an experienced, qualified dermatologist. Because the skin around the mouth and nose is thinner than the rest of the face, the depth of penetration may not be the same as, for example, on the cheeks, but the results can be very impressive!

The results are visible immediately after the completion of the treatment. For maximum results, you can repeat the treatment twice a month until you reach your recommended number of sessions.

If you follow a cycle of sessions suggested by your doctor, depending on your skin’s needs, the results can last up to 1 year.

It is a perfectly safe treatment, however, like all treatments, microneedling mesotherapy can have some side effects. The most common one is redness of the area where microneedling is applied, which usually subsides within a few hours after the treatment. In very sensitive skins, swelling or mild peeling may occur, but this subsides very quickly without any problem.

In general there are no particular contraindications. However, it is not indicated for people with severe skin infections, psoriasis in the area of application, herpetic infection or allergies.

As a precautionary measure, women who are pregnant should wait until the end of pregnancy.
